The small bunker the 7 soldiers use in the successful example is 3 tiles wide, and if you use 3 tile wide hallways with some doors here and there, you can make this anywhere in your base. Read the section on melee blocking carefully and come back here after you are done. As for the strategy that is actually used in these hallways, it is so basic that even the trusty old rimworld wiki writes about it. Whatever you do, use three tile wide hallways. The way to properly deal with infestations starts at base design. With infestations, you have pretty much one strategy, and when you follow it you will succeed. With any kind of raid there is a lot of variables that you have to account for and adapt accordingly. With that out of the way, what I value about infestations as an event, is that it is consistent. And this makes me sad, because infestations are some of the most fun, balanced and fair events in the game! It makes me so sad in fact, that I'd appreciate some visibility for this thread. I see them on a weekly basis, probably even more often than that. I see threads and comments about how infestations are ridiculously overpowered, unbalanced, unfun, and how they ruin mountain bases for some people, and how many many people simply turn them of in the dev mode. I read this subreddit pretty much daily, and have been doing so for months now.
